Rachel Haynie To All Instructors

Rachel was raised in Pilot Mountain, NC, one of five children, acquired a love of learning at an early age as both parents obtained post graduate degrees during her early childhood. Growing up, she played and vacationed in nature almost exclusively while active in volleyball, basketball, track, softball, piano, voice and two years of dance. She has always had a love for music, sang in church choir both as a youth and as an adult, performed with her high school’s Show Choir for the community, in competition, with the choir as well as solo, including two years in the Miss East Surry Pageant. Rachel and her husband, Kevin, have homeschooled their three boys KJ, Kaden and Kinson for the past 5 years. With the help of Kevin’s mother, Jan, the boys have thrived in music as they play piano and organ and sing in choir. The boys are active in FHE soccer and track while Rachel helps manage the soccer team. As a family, they stay busy renovating their home in Germanton, doing church activities and enjoy camping, traveling, vacationing and showing Christ’s love through service to others.

Rachel has worked with children and youth programs in several capacities including teaching music, teaching Sunday school lessons and in assisting and leading programs as well as working with other area churches and their programs. She has worked in the BSA Scouting program in several positions including as Cub Master. Rachel attended the University of Chapel Hill and obtained her nursing degree from Surry Community College. She holds multiple certifications, has worked as an RN for the past twenty years and is currently a dedicated Charge nurse in a Children’s Emergency Department. She feels a passion for helping not only those children who are having acute problems physically or emotionally but in helping educate parents and children to be healthier in all aspects of their life. Every summer, she dedicates her personal time as a nurse for an overnight girls’ youth camp. She has taught at STEM previously and is excited to teach a new concept of combining movement and music with math!
